About the role
This fully-funded, four-year DPhil studentship in Oxford's Department of Chemistry, supervised by Professor Fernanda Duarte, focuses on developing machine-learning interatomic potentials for metal-ligand interactions -- building computational models of dynamic properties relevant to catalysis, supramolecular chemistry, and biology, extending the group's existing tools (autodE, mlp-train). The student will join an international research team, collaborate with experimentalists, and train across a range of computational techniques.
The studentship covers full home-level fees plus a stipend of no less than £21,805 p.a. (standard UK Research Council stipend rate) for UK students. Applicants should hold a first-class or strong upper-second-class degree in Chemistry or a related field. Applications close 6 January 2027; the position starts 1 October 2027.
