About the role

The University of Oxford's Department of Physics (MIND Research Group) is offering a Royal Society-funded PhD studentship in Physical Neuromorphic Computing, investigating spin-wave dynamics and two-dimensional spintronic circuits for brain-inspired information processing. The work involves experimental device development, nanofabrication, electrical and magnetic characterization, and computational modeling to demonstrate neuromorphic computing functionalities. Candidates need a strong undergraduate or master's degree in physics, materials science, or a related field, with analytical and problem-solving skills and enthusiasm for experimental research; prior experience with magnetism, spin dynamics, nanofabrication, 2D materials, programming, or machine learning is advantageous. This is a three-year DPhil program beginning October 2027 at Oxford, covering tuition fees and providing a standard stipend. Application deadline 6 January 2027.
