About the role
The Department of Statistics at the University of Oxford is recruiting a Postdoctoral Research Assistant to work on the Genetic Inheritance Graph (GIG), a novel computational framework for integrating structural variants into genetic genealogies. Responsibilities include contributing to development of the giglib software library, creating algorithms for manipulating and analyzing GIGs, translating mathematical concepts into efficient data structures, developing genome simulations, and contributing to publications and presentations.
Candidates must hold (or be near completion of) a PhD/DPhil in a quantitative field such as statistics, mathematics, or computer science, with relevant coding experience and a strong software development background; prior genetics experience is not required. Research Grade 7; the post is fixed-term for 3 years, based at the Department of Statistics, 24-29 St Giles', Oxford.
