This fixed-term Postdoctoral Research Associate post is with the MRC Cognition and Brain Sciences Unit (CBU, transitioning to CMBI) at the University of Cambridge, on a Wellcome Trust-funded project investigating the neural basis of audiovisual speech processing in adult cochlear implant users. The work examines how hearing and vision combine to support speech comprehension, including whether visual speech processing during implant rehabilitation produces beneficial or harmful changes in auditory processing.
Responsibilities include running EEG and high-density diffuse optical tomography (HD-DOT) brain-imaging experiments in clinical populations. The post is for 3 years, full-time or part-time (preferably 0.7 FTE); a PhD in neuroscience, psychology, or auditory/speech sciences with EEG/MEG or neuroimaging experience is required, with clinical population experience preferred. Applications close 16 October 2026.
