VP, Head of Forward Deployed Engineering

Snorkel AI, the frontier AI data lab founded out of the Stanford AI Lab in 2019, is hiring a VP, Head of Forward Deployed Engineering to lead and scale its FDE organization from roughly 40 to 100+ engineers. The FDE team builds the bespoke data, evaluation, and agentic-AI pipelines that Snorkel's enterprise and frontier-lab customers use to ship production AI systems. The role combines organizational leadership (hiring through hypergrowth, coaching engineering managers and tech leads, setting the operating model) with deep technical involvement: owning quality standards and customer sign-off on shipped datasets, running architecture reviews, and turning bespoke customer deliveries into reusable solutions. Candidates need 10+ years in software/ML engineering, 5+ years managing multiple teams, experience scaling an engineering org to roughly 100 people, and fluency in LLM application stack architecture. Based in New York City or San Francisco (both hybrid). Posted compensation: $268,800 - $403,000 USD plus equity.
